Car Dependent.

Walk Score. Yes, my neighborhood is totally car dependent. And Walk Score didn't even take into account the lack of sidewalks leading to the few useful things within walking distance, and listed a few businesses that were not correctly categorized (the Public Storage place is not a clothing and housewares store, and the only school on the list is a special education center). So the score was inflated and still low. Welcome to Suburbia.

I've visited Drive score and now I find it really convinient tool. I've also found on Fizber.com a service Climate Watch: http://climate.fizber.com/ which allows homebuyers to check what the climate is like in another town or city all year round before they move there. That's cool!

I tried the walk score out for my neighborhood and was surprised to find a number of businesses within walking distance that don't exist. Realistically I could do more walking & I have a great neighborhood for it, I just try to make all my trips worthwhile so I need a car to get all my packages home ;)

Interesting. My neighborhood comes out "somewhat walkable". Apparently I am meant to buy my groceries at the gas station, as the very nice health food store on the opposite corner was not suggested. Like you, there are no sidewalks and bike lanes are just a mad wish.
