President-elect Obama.

Giant, whooshing sigh of relief.

I just read a short run-down on US elections, and I think I will stay right where I am:
Our Electoral Commission supervises the actual elections, whether Federal, State, or Municipal.
No matter whether I live in Sydney or Bullamakanka (yes, that is a real place), the ballot papers will look the same, and be completed in the same way. The names on the paper, of course................
And the incoming government will be sworn in, and at work, within a week.
Because voting is compulsory, you register at 18, are entered on the roll, and the only further correspondence to be entered into is if you marry, or in any way change your name, or if you change your address. The family is supposed to notify of the death of a voter, and usually forgets, and gets a nasty shock, months later when the please explain letter turns up. And if the excuse is not satisfactory (death is OK) then you pay a FINE.

Congratulations, again.

Sigh, unfortunately MO went red. Margin was 6000 votes, but still it's disappointing. I really wanted us to be a blue state.
