Huddled Together for Warmth

Here's a sight you won't see every day:

The house is so chilly in the mornings, Murphy and Higgins were snuggling on the couch this morning. Boris is the shadowy gray lump on the top of the critter lineup. After the house warmed up they resumed being disgusted by each other's very existence. And yes, Murphy is the smallest of the crew - the lineup goes: Boris, weighing in at a long, tall and corpulent 18.5 pounds, then Higgins, at not quite 11, then Murphy at around 8.5. But Murphy is in charge.

Good for Murphy: It is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

Just weighed our ancient Moggy, Vegemite. She was always a big, but rangy cat, between 8 and 10 lbs. She is now barely 6. But still cheerful, still enjoys her food, still enjoys a cuddle. Just OLD (Twenty two years, two months, and two weeks, dating from her guesstimated birthday in mid-Nov.

All the best from

Gae, in Callala Bay

Our conservative estimate of Higgins' age is 14ish. He still looks like a young cat and is in perfect health. Boris is about a year younger, and Murphy will be 9 in March and is often mistaken for a puppy when we are out walking. I would not be surprised to see Higgins reach 22. May we all age like Vegemite - I would love to be cheerful and enjoy my food and a cuddle when I'm her age!

Size doesn't count, right?
