OMG, Tuesday?

When the clock went off at 5 this morning I spent a few disoriented moments trying to figure out if it was Wednesday or Thursday. Imagine my disappointment. ;-)

The days are very long, and really suck. I have zero emotional involvement with this job, no feeling of doing anything important, it's fundamentally shallow and pointless, and to top it all off, I am now stuck spending my days trapped in my least favorite area of law. I did not sign up for this. I wish I had a valid alternative to this job, but so far, nothing promising has turned up.

Boy shared a photo of the color scheme for Granddaughter's Room, and I approve - they didn't go with Pink Until You Puke, or any "theme" thing - DIL2B's aunt made a quilt of colorful squares, to replicate something they saw online, with chocolate brown as the dominant color. Now I'm all inspired to make a sort of freeform log cabin afghan to coordinate/echo the colors, and dummy me, I thought I already had Cascade 220 superwash in chocolate brown to use as the dominant color. Um, yes to the right brown, no to the superwash. Whoopsie. So I ordered 3 skeins of chocolate, one pink, one lemon, and one Carribean blue, and I'm going to just start a freeform, blocks and stripes afghan with chocolate as the dominant color, and see what happens. I've never tried a log cabin afghan before so a crib-sized one is a perfect place to start. Jimmy Beans ships really fast, so maybe I'll have the yarn by this weekend. I may not finish it by the time I visit AVL, but it will be in the works, and done by the time the cold weather rolls around again.

I also bought a cute pattern for knitted jammies Knitting at Knoon Patterns - Jammies with PJ Puppy Pattern at Jimmy Beans Wool. I thought how cute it would be to do two sets, one for her and one for her older cousin, while they are still young enough to embarrass with coordinated holiday clothing at Christmas. Not matching, of course, and nothing so blah as red and green, of course. Colors TBD.

No baby news yet - she's still fine and on schedule.

I just love the freethinkers who avoid the pink and blue decorating blinkers.

Me too. She'll have girly clothes and toys and such, there's certainly no ban on that, but she's not going to live in a world of bubblegum pink "Princess" sparkly everywhere. I was already frustrated shopping for baby clothes - if you really look at it, it's all strawberries, butterflies, ladybugs, flowers, in shades of pink. I hooted when I found a navy/yellow outfit with bold white daisies - feminine, but not pink those insipid friggin' berries.

Insert "with" between "pink" and "those" in the last sentence.

And just what do the Pink Platoon do when pink just does not SUIT the little ladies complexion?

Anne hated pink, but looked wonderful in shades of violet, and absolutely smashing in blue.

And just TRY getting that kid into clothes she had decided to HATE !!
Fun !!
