I have an Asheville phone number. I have cable and internet set up for activation on November 18th. I have boxed up much of my household, and the rest will stay here with Girl and SiL, for their use and enjoyment. We are on the Final Countdown (dum-da-dum-dum...)
Boy and family will be here late on the 4th. Friday the 5th is wedding rehearsal. Saturday will be for chilling and hairstyle testing and such. Sunday evening - the wedding. The wedding will consist of maybe 20 minutes of ceremony, followed by a party. Monday - we do Universal/Harry Potter with the MD cousin contingent. Tuesday, everybody scatters from whence they came. Wed/Thurs - frantic last minute prep things. Friday, the moving van arrives.
I'm feeling surprisingly ready. I figure I've packed all that I really care about, and anything else is in either the "last minute boxes" or "leave it for Girl and Son-in-law" stuff. There's cleaning to do, and phone calls, and utilities, and all that crap, but honestly, I feel like from this weekend on it's downhill to the Party Weekend, and then the Move.
There are annoying loose ends - like the foyer light fixture needs replacing. I thought three of four bulbs were burned out, but no, three of four sockets in the fixture are now dead. Crap. But because I'm renting to family, we'll work that out when we all have time to care about it. The fixture is 25 years old and more than due to be dragged into this century, but I just don't have time to drag it before we all have other things to do, so they can pick (within reason) and I'll cover it. Little stuff like that we'll work out as needed.
I have a place to go, people ready to welcome me, plans for Thanksgiving. I have a date with the cable guy for the 18th. Sophie's been fixed and her stitches are out. The car got serviced. The next two weeks will be packed with details, family, fun, crazy, work, cleaning, and bouts of panic, but it's all good.
