This weekend all of the Happy Herbivore's cookbooks are $2.99 (Kindle edition only). I have been making many recipes from this one lately:
Happy Herbivore Light & Lean: Over 150 Low-Calorie Recipes with Workout Plans for Looking and Feeling Great
and haven't hit a dud yet. I love her books because she uses ingredients you can find in an average supermarket. When I started exploring the idea of a plant-based diet a few years ago, I was discouraged by the first books I'd read: The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet is an otherwise good read, but too many of the recipes called for ingredients that required side trips to Asian markets, etc., and way too much fussing. It was a hit-or-miss process for me to find ideas for real world, convenient, healthy meals, until I found The Happy Herbivore. I now have all four of her cookbooks, and use them all the time. Three of the four are in Kindle format, and while I thought I preferred paper for cookbooks, I have discovered that being able to pull up a recipe on the Kindle app on my iPad at the office to check ingredients before stopping at the supermarket on my way home makes up for the slight awkwardness of the e-book format.
Anyway, they're a bargain this weekend, so it's a good time to check them out if you are so inclined.
