It's Birthday Eve, and I'm looking forward to a trip to the beach tomorrow with family, followed by happy hour margaritas with a friend.
Son-in-law's knee surgery is Monday. To recap: He hurt his knee a week ago today. He saw the orthopedist Monday afternoon, right after we returned from Fort Lauderdale. MRI was yesterday, with a follow-up at the ortho scheduled for July 1. The doctor's office called him: "Um, yeah, can you come in today?" He did, and they scheduled the surgery for Monday, because yes, MRI showed that knee is seriously screwed, and he's been hobbling around in serious pain for a week already. Torn meniscus, and non-surgical fixes aren't likely to help.
So they have surgery day covered; they pay for 3 days of day care a week. (Normally, he is home Thursday Friday with Miss D, Mom is home Saturday Sunday, so she goes to school 3 days.) I bravely volunteered to give myself a 4 day weekend and take her on Thursday, so he doesn't have to chase her around on his post-op knee, and then it's the holiday weekend and mom will be off. Another 4 day weekend, with part of the day spent in the pool with Miss D, followed by lunch and a Disney movie on Netflix. I'm so brave. I want a medal.
