Happy New Year's Eve.

Happy end of 2014!  Onward into a shiny new year of plans and goals and fun!

Here's a goal: I need to watch more TV.  What? Why?  Because I usually knit while I watch, and I haven't touched my knitting in weeks. I have a new grandchild arriving in DAYS, and her/his (I'm thinking her, but the ultrasound was inconclusive) Grandma hasn't even finished a single knitted object for this kid!  I have afghan squares done but not assembled, and a second small afghan on needles that I haven't touched in, no kidding, a month.  This is unacceptable. I need to get an hour of knitting in before bed each evening, and get this done before the due date of Jan 11.

I'm still not sure when I'll meet this new little one, either.  I have 2, that's TWO, vacation days accrued so far. When I go to Asheville it'll just be for a long weekend, and I haven't even decided if I'll fly or drive.  The one airline that flies from here to AVL non-stop has a peculiar schedule that doesn't quite fit my plans, and I really don't want to spend 5 hours in the air and get there by way of Cleveland or some other airline nonsense, for a 2 hour non-stop flight.   It's approximately a 9 hour drive door to door, but when you factor in driving to the airport (almost an hour) parking, checking in, waiting around, the time in the air is only part of the calculation to be made in comparing the options. Given the options, I'll always choose to drive.  I hate to fly - it's so damn uncomfortable and stressful, while a long drive with a good audiobook for company is not.

Tonight I'm going to de-Christmas the house, and maybe even stay up until midnight to welcome the new year.  Tomorrow there'll be Luck and Money on the table and FSU in the Rose Bowl. Onward into a new year!
